Thank you and happy new year to you all!!
Yesterday we closed up shop early, and not having any plans, I thought it would be fitting to pop into the park on the last day of 2013.
At Sable Dam this White-faced Whistling Duck was having a bath in preparation for the end of year party...
Sable Dam is looking good and full after the recent rains...
At first there wasn't too much to be seen, so I tried my luck at some scenic shots. One of the many termite mounds in the area...
This next scene just appealed to me...
Finally some movement, a Leopard Tortoise quenching his thirst...
I have never taken a shot of a Giraffe like this before...
And lastly, a drive in this section of the park wouldn't be the same without getting close to an Ellie...
Wishing you all astounding sightings in 2014!!!

I did my first trip for 2014 into the park this morning. It was like a national highway with all the visitors heading to the gate to start their journey home.
Any way, I had to get onto the dirt roads asap, and here are some of my pics...
At this time of year you see a lot of foam nests above water pools, but this is some collection all together...
The only pics I managed to get with decent lighting was this Swainson's Spurfowl...
This Elephant looked impressive with his ivory, but I had to drop down to 1/60 of a second as he was in the shade under the trees about a mile away...
Next up was a few Buffalo, I'm not sure what this one had in mind...
And this poor chap seems to have a problem with his left eye...
There was also one lone White Stork strolling around with the Buffalo...
And the last one for today, the Boon family just being Boons...
