Very good, Rog, and unusual and lucky to be able to watch dam action in mid-summer!
Clever to go back to lunch and aircon!
Was the accommodation up to scratch? Lots of complaints lately....
I like the hippos.

Yes not usually in this level of accommodation at Marloth there isn't power so we don't have such luxuries as aircon We found the accommodation fine but we easy to please as long as we inside the park .There are a few picks of the camp coming up now

Re: The worst Business trip ever .. not !
After the lunch break we took a stroll around camp .The grass had been cut and some work on the gardens.
Some of the newly thatched units .
There was still a pile of old thatch .Not long after this the workers came and asked if we would mind if they came passed the unit we were in to collect the thatch to take away in a truck and we met them at a sighting later
A peek in the pool
Found this Dung beetle trying to roll a ball through the fence ...
And these two further along
We repacked the car as the afternoon heat was cooling slightly . We left camp and drove out just passed the dam and before the Tamboti road about 500m out of camp - I look and then stop . SO says what did you forget something No over there its a a
Yes a flat Lion
and over there another
and a third one
We sat with them for about 45 minutes while they occasionally moved /rolled and shuffled - other cars just drove on past as if they assumed nothing could be this close to camp
Eventually we decided to leave the flat cats as they weren't going far in the heat and would come back when it was cooler close to gate closing time .The plan was to drive down to the hyena cubs area to see if they were active yet then come back later ...

Re: The worst Business trip ever .. not !
On our way we stopped to check on the stork nest and its resident was home
The hyenas had cooled down and were active again
Not sure about curiosity and the cats but Hyenas seem to have their own share .
We left them and went a bit further on before turning around we found a Dikkop
Passing the den again the one Pup had run out of energy again
A very young pup had appeared and was playing behind a tree stump .
We carried on back towards camp.Seeing this Tawny eagle high up in a tree .
There were allot of Spiders nests visible in the sunlight
Getting closer to where we saw the Lions I said to SO probably be a huge traffic jam by now at the sighting but as there only a few people at camp it should be quieter when it gets closer to gate closing time ....
