Great pics again, Pumbaa! Patience pays off, you always see something, even in wet conditions!

I like the rhino in road, tree in water, and impala teacher with kids! lol

In fact we sometimes prefer to wait a while although nothing is near but normally something will come across and on top we are not in a hurry when in Kruger :ty:

In the same shrubs we noticed another movement and heard some rustling and suddenly the cutest waterbuck baby we ever saw occurred on the scene

Image

for sure mom was close by and we had to wait a while until both of them could be captured in the open

Image

Along the way we spotted a martial eagle in a dead tree and needless to say that it took quite a while until Timon was happy with all the shots he took.

Image

The eagle even moved to another branch but stayed the whole time there so we had in fact a lot of time in observing same.

Image

On our further way back to camp for a break we only stopped for a young baboon who was chewing on some leaves

Image

and for a couple of white fronted bee eaters

Image

who obviously wanted to be photographed.

Image

Our break in camp took longer as expected but was very relaxing after the prevailing heat and the long time in the car – we simply had to get used to that – and so whilst Timon was strolling along the fence with camera at the ready I was relaxing on our verandah with a book in hand.

Close to our unit Timon was trying to capture a cinnamon breasted bunting who did not want to come out of the bushes and nearly stayed the whole time there very well hidden.

Image

He could observe a resting waterbuck in the riverbed and for sure had to photograph once again one of the many different butterflies,

Image

a red billed hornbill was resting in a tree whereas the brown headed parrots were extreme noisy

Image

and lots of these spiders could be seen as well along the fence.

In the end we both wandered along the fence to the shop for an ice cream break and to watch the come and go at the waterhole in front of the reception. As there was no much activity we headed back to our bungalow and packed everything together for a 2 hours afternoon drive. In the best light we had the honour in coming across more rhinos who just started the grazing.

Image

They walked slowly but steadily farer and farer away whilst still feeding on the grass –

Image

All in all it were three of them and it is always such a pleasure when these huge grey creatures do come across.

Image

During the drive the bird activity got more and more and we saw grey headed sparrows, a yellow canary

Image

and even a speckled mousebird who was very difficult to photograph as same landed right in a thick bush.

Image

It was obvious that we spent the last hours of the day at Matjulu and had luck as a group of impalas came to quench their thirst

Image

and we were happy that we could capture them in the golden light.

Image

Image

to be continued.....
