Sunday 2nd September 2018 – Continued

The drive to Lower Sabie had lots of general game, we took a pit stop and then a quick drive to Lubyelubye rocks to see if a Leopard was hanging around.

Had an interesting experience at Lower Sabie when Cailin forgot her IPhone on the counter at the Mug & Bean. She only realized this when we reached the parking lot and went straight back. On questioning the staff, unfortunately no one had seen the IPhone ?? -O-

“Find My IPhone” was still showing the phone at the Lower Sabie deck, so we pinged it using Find my IPhone….

and the sound came from the Lower Sabie reception…. On entering the reception, the young lady behind the reception desk was desperately trying to keep her handbag quiet !!

After a quick discussion where the young lady assured us that she was just keeping the phone safe ?? O/ and of course we believed her O**

We retrieved the phone and continued on our way.

No Leopard but more Lion !!

The one lioness started to move towards the road

We positioned ourselves to be in the perfect position as she crossed the road

Image

But then she spotted a herd of Impala

Image

And started stalking

After a burst of speed and Impala scattering in all directions, it turned into another failed hunt, and she moved off down to the river.

We did not get the Leopard we were looking for but did find the kill in the tree.

Sunday 2nd September 2018 – Continued

On the way back down we took the S28 / S137 loop and spotted the Monitor Lizard living in a dead tree on the S28 section

Then back to the Lions down at the Gezantombi dam, it was midday, so they were all sleeping

Image

One was giving a Tusker a cautious watch

Image

And a few younger ones were closely watching a herd of Impala that had come down to drink in the pools

Image

Image

They were spotted long before they got close

Image

This lion was sleeping with its head jammed in a fork in a tree

It was 13h00 when we headed back to Marloth

Sunday 2nd September 2018 – Continued

As we had been driving for 7 hours in the morning, we just took a drive in to see what the Lions were up to, we took drinks and snacks and just chilled overlooking the dam for an hour. X#X

Monday 3rd September 2018

We had to drive back to Johannesburg today, so we took a quick drive in the park. The route would be to check on the lions then do the H5 / S108 / S25 loop back to Croc Bridge.

The Lions were gone !!

But on the H5 we found these two
