Always love to watch boons and Timon always do have to drag me away from watching them - Normally they are so photogenic O\/

We were already on our way back to camp as it was getting late when even a beautiful blue waxbill

Image

arrived and we were happy that we already saw that cute feathered friend that early during our stay this year

Image

and also the white fronted bee eater simply posed too nicely.

Image

Along the way also a lone rhino appeared and was also having a nice drink

Image

Image

and then same wanted to lay down already for the night but was getting a bit upset about the numbers of cars still around as same already wanted to take over its sleeping place.

Image

With another more than wonderful day with lots of amazing sightings we drove back to camp. lit the braai and enjoyed another nice evening.

Sunday, 12. February 2017 – Berg en Dal – Crocodile Bridge

Explored roads: S110 – H3 – S118 – S119 – S25 – H4-2 – S28

Not that we noted that but it was again time to change camp and after our obligatory morning routine we had even packed everything together prior to gate opening time as we had to wait a couple of minutes until the gate opened. First destination for today and already for the last time during this trip was again Matjulu waterhole and for sure this beautiful view will already be missed desperately.

Image

We startled up this younger kudu male who was busy with his breakfast.

Image

and arrived at a deserted waterhole but we did not bother we parked the car and enjoyed the beautiful morning. We only waited a couple of minutes when a hyaena arrived who first took a drink and then without hesitation walked right into the waterhole to take an extensive bath.

Image

This was still a sighting we dreamt about and this morning this wish came true

Image

but there was not only one hyaena who took a bath, another one was not far and soon occupied the waterhole, dived with head under water and started to splash around.

Meanwhile the first one had enough and left the swimming pool.

Image

Timon took shot after shot and for me it was hard to choose the favourites as we had simply a fantastic time in watching them.

Image

Image

In the beginning we were the only car but the longer we stayed the more and more cars arrived and lined up at one of the view points. We stood down on the parking area facing the waterhole all by ourselves it was in fact a wonderful sighting.

Image

We changed from one hyaena to the other one and same was meanwhile extreme close

Image

Image

to the bathing one who now started to bite frantically into its foot.

Image

Meanwhile same was already totally wet but for sure enjoyed its bath tremendously

Image

and started also a new game which is named “dead hyaena”.

Image

In fact we had some good laughs because of this behaviour and we were more than happy when finally a third one arrived to check also the pool out

Image

but before the swimming could get started the thirst had to be quenched.

Image

to be continued.....
