If you are talking about the length of the screw sticking out of the mounting face, than that is more than sufficient. I doubt the camer's socket is that deep, so there needs to be a way to tension it from underneath.

If not, please post pictures?

I researchered the name, that's how that particular tripod is(not sure about other tripods) but that Tristar tripod only weights 2kg and can sustain 3kg of weight, so not very advisable for outside use according to YouTube :)

I have another question regards to a lens.
Since the nikon 200-500 is going to take some time for me to buy, I came across a sigma 120-400mm os , which I believe to be quiet old?
Anyone with experience with this lens and is it any good?

Can't wait to use it this weekend.. The d5300 fells inadequate for this lens.. Maybe a full frame shold be in mind for the near future :-0
