Somewhere on this forum there was a discussion regarding a log that you put up for the barbet to nest in.

I can't find it.
I have now bought myself a log and would like to place it in the correct direction, height, and what do I put inside it
Please help if you can.

Hi Amoli,
This was a comment from SM a few months back:
Super Mongoose wrote:You can buy the logs from a garden nursery for around R55 to R75 depending on the size. We capped it with an old coffee can so it woun't rot from the rain. The whole must face South East. The log comes with only a shallow hole and the barbet does the rest, it only takes them a couple of days to excavate the whole nest.
And then another discussion on the Barbet - Bird of the month thead.

Looking forward to seeing the results!
Is there a certain time of the year when it's best to place one of these logs?

Super Happy, this morning a Diderick Cuckoo couple in our garden.
First I could only hear them and it took a while to find them is the lumenos green leopard tree.
This is the male, not great pics.... but my first pics ever of these pretty birds.

You are lucky to have such pretty birds in your garden. The cuckoo is bird of the month, so maybe you could post them there too
