So sad, these crashes are preventable but SANparks look the other way. This section of road between Mopani and Punda gate is deadliest stretch of road, worse than lots of other provincial roads with higher speed limits. This 130 km has claimed 6 lives now in last 3 years that I am aware of, never mind the injuries, road kill etc.

SKUKUZA – The tourist on whose vehicle a giraffe fell after it got struck by a minibus taxi passed away today.

Today Dario Lanzillo, the head of the Regional Consular Centre of the Embassy of Switzerland in Pretoria, had confirmed the death of the Swiss citizen who was involved in a serious traffic accident on Sunday.

“The embassy of Switzerland is in contact with the relevant authorities and supports members of his family in the framework of consular protection. Due to protection of data and personal information, no further information can be provided,” Lanzillo said.

In the first pic one can see by the brake marks how the one wheel locked up until the giraffe was hit, then two wheels locked. It was at significant speed. :evil:
