Like any parastatal or SOE SANParks is irrevocably bound, by their own decision, to support the politics and policies of the ruling ANC. One could query whether this is desirable as the organisation is meant to represent all South Africans, who share in the costs of paying their salaries as simple custodians of Our national heritage for generations to come, regardless of race or political persuasion.
There are many examples of SANParks theoretically overstepping their bounds and entering into quasi-political territory which should not be their domain.
One recent example is the hanging of flags at half-mast at Satara and other camps in response to the death of Kenneth Kaunda, former Zambian president.
What does this have to do with Kruger National Park??

Re: The Politicisation of SANParks
You can't blame Sanparks for this one.
The national flag is flown at half mast only on instructions from the Presidency. The South African Government declared a period of mourning for 10 days with flags to be flown at half-mast at all flag stations.

Are Zambia and SA very close politically or otherwise?

Yes, many ANC bigwigs hid there during apartheid.

Re: The Politicisation of SANParks
I'm sure the national flag has always been flown in Kruger camps. No problem there, but I could do without all the pictures of politicians etc in the reception areas.

I remember being in Skukuza on the very day Cyril was inaugerated, and his pic went up instantly!
