Browns in Kruger - August 2020 (JHB Clan)

Post by Supernova »

Hi All;

With a new trip coming up in the next few days, I best get some trip reports done. With time being short and my memory fading lol this will be more of a photo report…… [O]

While still escaping the COVID lockdowns, we managed to get a trip booked, again we were staying at Marloth Park and tried a new place again. Penny Lane was not on the river but deep in the bush with lots of the general game that came to visit daily. Our trip was booked from 26th August to 30th August 2020.

We entered the park at Malelane gate and took the S25 to Crocodile Bridge, there was plenty general game along the way but no cats or dogs …

After checking in to Penny Lane, it was already late afternoon, and as we had already paid entrance fees for the day, so we took a short drive around Crocodile bridge area.

The sun was low when we entered, so we just went to Gasanftombi dam. The local Hyena clan were out and about.

27th August 2020

We were up early, and the plan was to take the H4-2/H4-1 up to Lower Sabie then on to Skukuza. The H4-2 was still sleeping and the first game we got was approaching Lower Sabie.

From the Lower Sabie dam wall the Giraffes looked a bit like Jurassic Park with just long necks sticking out.

One of the big crocs had killed a baby hippo and was holding on to the last of the kill.

After a pit stop at Lower Sabie we continued on to Lubyelubye rocks hoping to find the resident leopard but found a Lioness on the rocks.

While we were watching the lioness, Roxy called on the walking talkie to let us know the male lion was on the road behind us O\

Penny Lane looks like a nice abode \O

Well, the lions came to greet on the second trip into the park though O:V

Cool sighting of the croc, even if I pity the baby hippo... And spotties too ^Q^
