what an incredible leopard sighting close to camp closing time \O

Far too often the best sightings occur when you are already late, luckily you still made it in time O/\ O/\ O/\

The next morning we left at gate opening time, as usual, and decided to head down the H4-1 again in the hope of finding more leopards. O:V

About 4kms out of camp I spotted 4 lions right next to the road, which all the cars ahead of us had driven straight past. 0-

They moved into the road and kept us entertained for a while. :-0

They soon moved off so we carried on, only to find a lone male a little further on.

He didn't hang around long and we carried on. We scanned the area around the tree where we had seen the leopard which BC says is known as Sausage but couldn't see anything, so we moved onto the spot where we had seen the leopard on the kill...also no luck. :-( I then suggested to the Brat that we go back to 'Sausages's tree' for one more look. As we approached we saw a few cars stopped and then I spotted him in the long grass next to the road...he was hunting!! O\/ He was difficult to keep track of as the bush was thick and he soon disappeared. The other cars moved off but we decided to hang around. There were some impala in the dip next to tree, and we thought he might try again. About 15 minutes later, we spotted him, stalking the impala. O:V He then came charging out of the bushes but missed again! And again, we didn't get any pics as the bush was too thick and it all happened so fast! 0*\

We carried on, and soon found a traffic jam on one of the loop roads next to the river. We managed to find the 5 lions that were causing the chaos, but they were far away and not worth the stress. :X:

A very large herd of buffs was much more interesting and easier to watch!

That was pretty successful, even if you didn't get photos of the leopard. But watching him stalking and hunting probably still got the adrenalin pumping lol

Quite a lot of buffs there indeed O:V O:V O:V

Your patience ought to have been paid a little more, but at least you saw the leopard and it was "doing things" lol

Also the lions were moving around, which is far better than the usual flat ones ;-)
