^Q^ Wow lovely to see three big Male lions like that and they seem to be active even if only moving to the shade \O

The two in front are certainly brothers, they look very much alike  At least they were not <zz> ;-)

What a lucky and excellent lion sighting, Pumbaa!

Great portraits, the one almost has a mohawk, lol

And almost all to yourselves...only in the north...

It was still early morning and bearable but I am sure they moved over into the shade somewhere in the bush during the midday heat ;-)

That is why I love the North that much not much traffic and always funny when male lions do wear a mohawk ;-)

As the two other lions meanwhile were out of sight for us we had more time now for a private photo shooting

Image

with the one close to us.

The sun came up meanwhile more and more and it started also to get hotter and hotter but our maned friend was still lying in the shade and besides an occasional look over the road to check out his buddies we had him all to ourselves as he still could not be seen from the other two cars.

Image

Image

Finally also a forth car arrived and that was the total number of cars at that sighting for the whole time! The obligatory yawner had also to be captured

Image

soon followed by another one

Image

and finally our tired friend decided to stand up too,

Image

stretched the body and walked over to his two buddies

Image

who were still checking out the zebras although the zebras were aware of the lions and already started to move away from them.

As meanwhile all three were out of sight for us we decided to pay a quick visit to the Tshanga lookout as nature was calling and after a short stroll there we returned in maybe getting another glimpse onto the lions.

We indeed had again luck as in the minute we arrived all three of them appeared from behind the bushes they escaped from the sun

Image

Image

and they even moved closer and closer,

Image

Image

crossed the road and whilst the two buddies already moved closer into the thick bush out of sight one of them had the feeling he needed a manicure and started to sharpen his claws

Image

Image

on a tree stump

Image

and finally soon followed his buddies and far too soon all three were out of sight. WoW what a wonderful hour we just spent with them and what a fantastic ending to our slowly ending trip.

Not far from where we spotted the lions last a squirrel appeared on the scene and posed more than perfect on a dead tree

Image

we really saw often squirrels during our trips but same are not that easy to capture when not in camp but this cute pie simply had to be captured when posing so voluntarily that long.

Image

to be continued………………

I have read somewhere that cats are yawning when they are hungry, but I don't know if it's true -O-
