Having another trip to see a client in Swaziland the first time since before covid lockdowns we of course tacked on a few days at Marloth as its only about 100km further . As luck would have it my Sister and her SO also planned to go that weekend and would meet us there .
I completed the work at the site late on the first evening in Swaziland so we stayed over and left the site early the next morning to Marloth planning on stopping at Komati to get provisions . On the way towards Komatiport we got the news there was Riots and protests in Komatiport . after being through them in Durban we were not too phased and drove on assuming the Police would be present to stop one getting into a bad situation ... We arrived at the outskirts to town and drove past many police cars and followed the traffic and suddenly there was rocks and burning stuff on the roads .Ahead there was the mob toy toying and trashing the place .We did a U turn and left the farm watch and security were arriving . SO and I laughed about it typical police stand and observe everything these days We drove around Komati to the other road going to Marloth and did some shopping at the Marloth shops .After unpacking and having lunch of course we left to have a Drive in Kruger .
We entered at Croc Bridge and got some waters and coffee at the shop.
Turning onto the S28 we found a mini jam of two cars and soon spotted their sighting of a Cheetah far off in the grass
We sat with them for some time but there was not much good view . While there we had a Hyena stroll past .
and a Jackal so we assumed there was a kill around but both scavengers seemed to go in opposite directions and disappeared from sight .
After some time we decided to move off and let others that had arrived time to see the sighting .We drove up to the bird hide .The water was very green .
We drove back to the S130 planning to go back down to Croc Bridge and then the Cheetah sighting .
Our first Ellie
Made SO day by spotting an Eagle Owl
We stopped by Gezantombi Dam some Ellies were drinking
Crock was sun bathing
Storks were all over the large tree stuck on the wall.
We went to the camp for a break before going back out .
