We hear them almost every day here, Nan, and we also see them often, but they don't often give good opportunities to photograph them.

They and the Great Spotted are the two common woodpecker species in our neighbourhood. Once or twice a year we get a Lesser Spotted and we have also had Black Woodpecker once or twice.

We live where the arrow is pointing in the photo below. It is about 4 kilometres from Old Town Square as the woodpecker flies.

Yesterday we had Green Wood-hoopoes in our garden for the first time. O:V But I was too slow to get a pic. 0*\
