My dad and I went out to Rietvlei yesterday for a Kruger Park Facebook group get-together. I was hoping to find cheetah and the African Finfoot that's been seen recently. No luck there but we still had some nice sightings.

Our first sighting was of three jackals. Please excuse the number of pics but this is the first time that I've managed to get good pics of them! ;-)

Two jackals crossed behind us and disappeared.

A youngster then appeared in front of us and lay down in the road. It stayed there for about 15 minutes! :-0

Two swallows started to harass the jackal and it tried, unsuccessfully, to catch them.

Bored with the birds, it moved off the road and soon disappeared.
