I also saw a Fork tailed Drongo for the first time in Rietvlei -

he was watching on as weavers were feasting on some potatoe salad - 0*\

I do not know what specie the larger weaver is - also a lifer for me.

and then something spooked them..

The Pied Crow was playing hide and seek -O

I went all mushy with this sighting - two love birds holding hands.. sweet O:V

This one of the eland was only because the light was so good on them \O

Well done with the otter, Amoli -O and you managed some action shots of the little birds, love them.

I have done the waiting thing, too, in August, but had no luck otter-wise, but it worked better at the Coot Corner's hide, where I found a Purple Swamphen for the first time

Your 'large weaver' looks like a Crested Barbet.
We were also there yesterday, saw buffs at Otter bridge but no otter. Did see Northern Black Korhaan and Pin tailead Whydah starting to get its tail and plumage.

Hi Bigbird 0/* 0/*

You must have missed Penga - they were in Rietvlei yesterday.
I was there last Sunday - and I did go in search of the Korhaan but couldn't find it. At one stage I thought I heard his call, but nothing. I also went looking for bee-eaters that might've returned - but also nothing yet. \O

What I would love to see is a Secretary bird... again. A relaxed one. -O

For not having the migrants back yet, I think you had a good score in Rietvlei, Amoli \O
Otter, hmz... You should have kept that photo for the quiz thread. -O

Thanks for sharing again, Amoli O0

Lovely pics Amoli. Pity about the otter but at least you saw them which is great.

I think it is time that Joan and I take a trip there.

Joan and I are planning to go to Rietvlei very early on Wednesday morning.

Anyone care to join us?
