I did go yesterday, but should have read here first! 0*\

Anyway...spent 4 hours in the reserve and had a great time!! ;-) Didn't see that many animals but I was on a bird mission, and I saw 34 different bird species and got 4 lifers! O:V I also had 2 other firsts. ;-) Will come back soon with pics. \O

There is still lots of water around Rietvlei, but Otter Bridge was open. \O There were a few sand roads still closed but I didn't attempt any of the others...still too much thick mud around. My first birdie was this African Hoopoe. O:V

Image

Then a White-winged Widowbird...not a first, but the first pic I've managed of a breeding male. ;-)

Image

I stopped at the first hide after the entrance and these Whitethroated swallows were all over the place.

Image

There wasn't anything else around but as I left the hide something caught my eye...a Lesser Swamp Warbler (thanks Dewi ;-) )...my first lifer. O:V

Image

The rhino looked very peaceful and safe among the cattle egrets. \O

Image

Just about everywhere I drove flocks of bishops would burst from the bushes and move further down the road and do the same thing when I got there! =O:

Image

A Red-collared Widowbird.

Will continue later. \O
