Re: Rietvlei Nature Reserve through Greenies' Eyes
I took my brother to Rietvlei for a few hours on the afternoon of 18 October 2014.
Ant-eating Chat.
We were very fortunate to this meerkat on sentry duty while the others scurried about in the veld.
Black-shouldered Kite.
Long-tailed Widow-bird getting his colours.
This guy posed so nicely for us.

RIETVLEI will be opening their gates tomorrow - 8 November only - at 4.45am
Guests are asked to drive safely in the dark in the park.
I will be there, searching for the serval

At otter bridge I actually caught a 'skrik' when I saw this Black crowned night heron totally in the open - wow

Re: Rietvlei Nature Reserve through Greenies' Eyes
Let’s get back to my late afternoon trip last week :
My first Diederik of the summer season
A beautiful Cape Weaver in the late afternoon
An unknown Pipet/Lark – for Dewi and Lis
Some flowers for Toko
This little Warbler had a dance around to get himself dry and warm
A very quick appearance from a Squacco Heron
The whiskered Tern also put up a feather show..
…. And that was it – I had to move it to get home before the last rays disappear..

Great photos Amoli, especially the Whiskered Tern.
I think the Pipit is African Pipit & you also got a Little Bittern. (Squacco Heron pic).
