Re: Birds In Flight
Thanks for the nice words.
I believe these were taken on the approach to Urikarus, where the steep climb to the dunetop starts, coming from the south. The wall is an excellent homesite for them to dig their tunnel.
The settings were: (Flying INTO the nest: 1/1000 @ f 7.1, 85mm ISO 400); (Flying OUT: 1/1600 @ f 5.6 150mm ISO 400)
This one's not flying, but is part of that series: (1/1600 @ f6.3 190mm ISO 400)
I also have some photos of a pair digging their nest together, but will have to search for them. They are quite fascinating to sit and watch aren't they?

Re: Birds In Flight
Hi ExFem. Another stunning photo - the clarity and colour is amazing.
Thank you also for the cameras settings. I can never get such a frozen image of a bird in flight at 1/1600. I can only get it at 1/4000.
If I may ask you - are these pics photoshopped or are they as you took them?
Sorry - last question - what camera and lens are you using?
I have ordered Lightroom 4 but due to the strike by our postal workers over the last month it is still sitting at the International Mail Centre.

Re: Birds In Flight
Stunning pics Exfmen... really lovely.
We have a thread : Bird of the month, and there is one on Bee-eaters.
Would you mind adding these pics of the bee-eaters and nests to this thread - that would be great.
