Short photographic trip to Kruger *

Post by Penga Ndlovu »

This is going to be a short one.

Came home after 7 weeks in Europe.
Worked for 2 weeks.
Went to Kruger for 3 days. =O:

Left last Friday at 1.00 hours or at least tried to because the battery was flat. O/

Managed to regain some juice in it and, with a lot of ups and downs, arrived in Kruger at around 9.00 hours. 0*\

A short impression:

That was the last sighting of the day before we left the park at Phabeni a my guests had arranged accommodation for us in Hazyview.

After a very long and hard day there is nothing so rewarding as a long hot shower and a Klippies and Coke seeing the sun set while the braai is getting to the right temperature.

It was a short one as I was totally exhausted and I think I was asleep not even 1 minute after my head touched the pillow.

The next morning the smell of coffee (virtually) woke me up around 6 just in time to make me a real one and see the sun rise while the others were still waisting the most beautiful part of the day in bed, but by 7.30 we managed to enter the park at Phabeni again.

It was slow going till we reached Lake Panic.
Altough there was nothing much too see the guests were ecstatic about the place and then we left for Skuks to get yet another cup of Jawa.

We headed for nKuhlu to get some breakfast, but they do not even have a kitchen anymore. Just a few snacks and some cool drinks to be found.
The places like nKuhlu, Afsaal and even Tshokwane are going down the drain and it is sad to see that sorry state of affairs.
We were directed to Lower Sabie to get some breakfast.

About 5 kms before LS we were watching these two fishing

And the Hamerkop got the prize and was so proud of himself

At Sunset dam it was business as usual and there was this big boy lying in the parking area

Never Iloma?

Eish!!!
They are all around.
See them nearly every trip. 0*\ 0*\ 0*\

When we came to LS it was busy.
I do not mean just busy, but really busy.
Had to wait 45 minutes to get a simple hamburger and chips and by that time I was simply overheating. O/ O/ O/ O/ O/ O/
They crew, although never been to Kruger, were also on the point of breaking.

After a quick meal we decided to move off and take the back roads towards Stevenson- Hamilton Memorial.
Always good for a leg stretch and a nice view over the bush.
Apart from the general plains game there was nothing much too see and the peeps were complaining a bit that it was so hot.
They looked at me with big round eyes when I told them it was not hot.
It was kind of a nice cool Lowveld day. =O: =O: =O: =O:

We moved off at a leisurely pace and did a few photographic exercises.

Thanks all. -O
Glad you liked them.

As we left the Stevenson- Hamilton memorial to take the dusty trail again, we were just enjoying the drive till we hit the tar road betrween Afsaal and Skuks again and at the T- junction we spotted some cars at Klipspringer koppies.
One guess why they are called like that. =O:

But this time no Klipspringer to be seen.

LEOPARD!!!!

Eish. Now I need to replace the shocks on the left hand side of the car as everybody was suddenly sitting on each others lap on that side. 0*\

Through the bushes it came towards us.
