Article in Beeld today:
Cape Town: Since January 2011 Kruger has sold 170 White Rhino. The buyers' names are kept secret due to security concerns. The reasons are to provide added income and to improve the survival chances of WR in SA through expanding private ownership.
Min. Molewa in response to parliamentary question from Mr Koornhof.
The thing is, is this still justifiable? The rhino come from the Southern section, mostly, where there WAS an overpopulation in certain areas. Poaching has had a yet to be determined effect on family structures, even though numbers may remain apparently ok?
Buyers presumably want prime bulls and cows, not old stock...further complicating the issue!
