Unfortunately there were loads of moths or bugs when the outside lamp was on and we had to eat inside. But we had a good laugh because of them as well. A gecko was on the wall trying to catch them. He must have been a little bit careless and fell down right into my SO’s sneaker. He seemed a little bit confused when he reappeared with his catch still in his mouth but seemed to be fine.

Our last visitor was this jackal

we went to bed at the sound of the barking geckos which seemed to live right next to the unit.

and left the camp at 08:45 am. We drove slowly as Andries and Eric had told us about a meerkat den. We found some holes and scanned the area. Something was moving

but it was not a meerkat. I had found a whistling rat! Yeah, tick number two of my wish list. A little bit further on there were even more

We had read that the exit road is terrible and were surprised that we managed it quite well. That was before we arrived at the last dune. My SO insisted on trying the left route although the right one looked better. After the third unsuccessful try he threatened to give up and let me drive. Instead he tried the right route at full speed and managed it on the first go. A little bit later we met a nice couple who were on their way to Gharagab. They told us that our problems were caused by the tyres which were only deflated to 1.6 and not to 1.2.
