09.10.2013 – continued

It was a great surprise when we arrived at Kwang and the vultures were already there. I don’t know if they are the same or different ones we saw at Polentswa.

We moved on and checked in at Nossob. I had planned to go on a sunset drive tonight but as I developed a stiff neck I thought that was not a good idea. Instead we went on an afternoon drive to Marie se draai. It was quiet again. When we saw a PCG on the ground we stopped to check if a honey badger was around. We did not see one but we saw our first ever cape cobra,

As Marie se draai did not really deliver yesterday, we went on the morning drive to Kwang again. Our first sighting was a a strange one. Some people were having breakfast at the look-out point. We checked that later and saw no sign that tells you to stay in the car, but I have never heard that you are allowed to get out there.

The next sighting was much nicer – a hyena on a mission

followed by a second one

At Kwang the lions were back. Unfortunately they were not as close as last time.

On our return to Nossob we stopped at Cubitje Quap. There were only a few sandgrouses and one jackal tried half-heartedly to hunt them while another one was dozing

Then we went to the hide for a while as some wildebeests were close by but they did not come to the waterhole

only a crow had a drink
