On the eastern stretch of the loop one may glimpse a couple of concrete reservoirs up on the hill. These used to supply Pretoriuskop with water in the OLD days, as this was a high-enough point "near" camp to provide the requisite water pressure in the days before practical pump equipment. (The water came from a pumpstation in the Sabie River near Phabeni, and now goes to the reservoirs one sees next to the H1-1 Numbi road near camp.)

In Gus Adendorff's book he mentions that he found a number of baboon skeletons in the open disused reservoirs in his early years as ranger there (1960's), as they would play/drink inside when rain left them fullish, and not be able to get out. 0*\

So they wedged some dead trees in to give them an avenue out! \O
