Anthrax in the Kgalagadi?

As I'll be off in to the Kgalagadi in less than 4 weeks time I started to look at the what has been seen at Nossob on the SPF webcam thread.
What I got to see, I found quite disturbing... On the 16th September, a young male lion with a heavily swollen face was capture.

You can look at the pix yourselves here: http://www.sanparks.org/forums/viewtopi ... 6#p2283696
(You'll have to look through a few pages to get various photos and angles.)

So, I started to look around on other threads to see if there was any discussion / explanation on this. While doing so, I found photos from
a member who had been to Nossob not even two weeks ago. She saw another two young males, one with the same swellings and the second
with different swellings, but still swellings on the 11th.

The link to those photos are here: http://www.sanparks.org/forums/viewtopi ... 9#p2283169
(Maybe scroll down a bit, sometimes the links shift a bit.)

I also came across a thread specifically devoted to that young male that had been seen on Nossob Cam.

Link here: http://www.sanparks.org/forums/viewtopi ... 47&t=88480

I already posted it there: I'm highly suspicious of the explanation that those young males suffered strikes of their father who supposingly tried
to evict them from the pride and the youngsters showing too much resistance. There is no other injury to be seen on those young males apart
from the swelling in their faces... Too much coincidence for three different animals allegedly having been hit on two different days. Oh, and
all three of them have died by now.

If you look at those pix, would you agree that this is rather a case of Anthrax?

Have asked for clarification on the yellow side... Let's see...

Alf, don't want to expose you to Anthrax... You're a hairy kind of fellow somehow and might be too vulnerable... 0*\

nan, not sure how serious... I kept checking the webcam ever since I saw this and I haven't seen anything else suspicious (yet).
There is always hope for a confined incidence. Fact is, I don't believe it being a territorial thing. Too many coincidence with
three lions being affected over a period of about four days.
