Southern African Python

We came across this Python in a river valley North of Windhoek. It had crossed the dirt track and was heading into a nearby small tree.

The guides estimated it to be 10 to 12 foot long, which I initially thought was an overestimate until I had the chance of seeing it out in the open.

A long, flat, stretched out pic coming up. lol

The local birdlife gave the python a bit of a hard time and mobbed it relentlessly.

It eventually came down from the tree and headed for the river.

This is where I had my chance to rethink my first estimation of it's size.

It went into the river and submerged underneath all the weed.

Image

Before popping it's head up stealthily. We thought it might be setting an ambush, so left it to hopefully catch something to eat.
