Browns in Kruger - August 2015 (JHB Clan)
Re: Browns in Kruger - August 2015 (JHB Clan)
RP: They do have the poses perfected - Kelly - Wikipedia: The surname was established in the United States by the early 19th century, and it began to be used as a masculine name in the later 19th century - maybe this helps ?

27th August 2015 - Day 6: Skukuza
We took a short drive towards the Kruger Gate to check for any Wild Dogs in the area.
On leaving Skukuza, we met up with a Hyena in a hurry to get somewhere.
And an Elephant roadblock just after leaving Skukuza on the Kruger Gate road
This area was very quiet, and as we had already spent a few days on the H4-1 between Skukuza and Lower Sabie, we went North on the H1-3 up to Tshokwane for the day. The plan was to do the H1-3 to Tshokwane, H10 back to Lower Sabie and H4-1 back to Skukuza.
We stopped at Tshokwane for snacks, previous experiences had determined that we don’t eat Lunch here, something Bushcraft will agree to. The sightings board showed that there were Lions just to the North, so we took a quick drive to find them. It was a pride of about 12 Lions in the river bed. Including one very muscular Lioness.
And a few young males.
On the way back down to Tshokwane we took the Orpen Dam road to join up with the H10.
Just before Orpen Dam we heard the Marshal Eagle calling, it had caught what looked like a Franklin and was busy feeding
When reaching Orpen Dam we took a break to check out the dam.

27th August 2015 - Day 6: Skukuza (Part 2)
One of the kids spotted a lion on the opposite bank, which caused great excitement – it turned out to be a Waterbuck.
Another family arrived at the dam and told us that we had just missed a Leopard on the approach road to the dam.
We went looking for it but were just too late.
The H10 was quite for most of the way down to Lower Sabie with only few general game sightings. Only once in the last 14 years have we had any excitement on the north side of the H10 and then it was two separate Cheetah kills in one drive along the H10, in 2003.
On the way back up the H4-1, we spotted another lion family with large cubs.
And a few buffalo
Followed by a breeding herd of Ellies that were not too happy to see us.
A little one got left behind and had to make a sprint for it to catch up.
The Nkuhlu gang was in attendance as we passed there.
