DAY 6 - WEDNESDAY 12 OCTOBER 2016 - ALL DAY.

As it was a beautiful morning..............

Image

........we decided to take a ride up to Lenong View to take our annual photo. On the way we came across:

Our Osprey once again with a kill. Again in the same tree as we had seen it before.

Image

Image

This rhino with an extra long horn.

Image

Another kudu.

Image

Our annual photo.

Melanie, Norman and Kendall.

Image

The old fogies.

Image

We then decided to head down to Bukubang for brunch.

Near Lengau Dam we came across a pride of about 7 lion lying far away and scattered around under some trees.

This was the best photo that we could get.

Image

Bakubang really surprised us. It was amazing. Clean and green and friendly service.

Joan watching some ellies frolicking around Bakubangs water hole.

Image

Nothing much to be seen until we arrived at Tilodi Dam.

Image

This guy stood like this for quite a while. Maybe he had a sore foot?????

Image

That is it for today.

Hi B.C. Could not believe that we saw the Osprey three times in the same spot.

Thanks for the compliments.

DAY 7 - THURSDAY 13 OCTOBER 2016 - EARLY MORNING.

While munching on steak and wors at last nights braai the kids decided that they were going to have a lie in this morning and then go to Sun City for the day.

Joan said she would like to go with but would also like to come out early with me. We decided that we would meet at Pilanesberg Centre at 09:30 where Joan could join them and I would stay and search the park on my own.

We were no sooner in at Manyane Gate when we saw this beautiful lady in the road.

Image

Then this guy appeared and by the look in their eyes we knew they were in love.

Image

Image

We still had a signal so we phoned the kids and told them to get here chop chop.

The two lovers were now behind us so we turned around - only one other car with us - but unfortunately we were now looking into the sun.

We managed to get the following photos.

Image

We saw the kids arrive from the other side of the lion.

The male lion was watching the female walking ahead of him but I think he was tired so he lay down in the road.

The female looked back, saw him lying there so she turned around and headed straight for him throwing herself at him saying " Take me. I'm yours." He very kindly obliged.

By the look on her face she was not very impressed.

Image

Image

Two photos that Norman took with his camera with the sun behind him.

Image

Image

They the ducked into the veld to seek some privacy but we could still see them. At one stage she started running with him in hot pursuit.

We soon got tired of watching this bushveld pornography, as by now there were about ten safari trucks causing total chaos so the kids went back to camp and we continued our trip.

Image

At Pilanesberg Centre we watched these two little piggies play fighting.

Image

And so the kids and Joan went off to Sun City and I decided to go and sit at Rathlogo Hide.

The lions looks quite beautiful at Pilanesberg! Definitely much nice than most of their Kruger counterparts. But then again, I'm being totallly spoilt with the Kgalagadi lions anyway lol

Lovely photos of the family - young and old \O

Did you double-check the ID on your "canary"? I'm still sure it's a cinnamon-breasted bunting. The markings on the head are not fitting a streaky-headed seedeater.
