Those lions are in lovely condition!
I'm also going to stay with you....can do without Sun City.
OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
Re: OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
Great lion sighting
I’m glad the male eventually put his foot down and then some “bushveld porno”
I would have also stayed rather than Sun City

You still look the same, fogey!
Quite a larney piece of road that, never seen lions on paving!
I love the green lawn there, the rarest sighting of the trip! Haven't seen a green lawn anywhere in a year!
Nice porn!

Thanks very much Lisbeth.Lisbeth wrote:That was a serious lion sighting
I am going to stay with you, I am not too keen on Sun City
Glad to have you stay on board.
He was a huge fellow nan. In his prime I would say.nan wrote:wow what a "beast"...
love too the Piggies
I agree that the lions in Pilanesberg are in extremely good condition.Mel wrote:The lions looks quite beautiful at Pilanesberg! Definitely much nice than most of their Kruger counterparts. But then again, I'm being totallly spoilt with the Kgalagadi lions anyway
Lovely photos of the family - young and old
Did you double-check the ID on your "canary"? I'm still sure it's a cinnamon-breasted bunting. The markings on the head are not fitting a streaky-headed seedeater.
Thank you for the family compliment.
Sorry Mel, I have not double checked on the bird ID yet.
They are indeed Flutterby.Flutterby wrote:Those lions are in lovely condition!

Thanks B.C. - Sun City holds no charm for me either.
I would rather have a bad day in Pilanesberg than a good day in Sun City.
Thanks for the great compliment R.P..Richprins wrote:You still look the same, fogey!

That is one of the better pieces of road but it does not carry on for much longer.
Rarest sight - green grass

Re: OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
DAY 7 - 13 OCTOBER 2016 - RATHLOGO HIDE.
I sat at Rathlogo Hide until it was time to head to camp for lunch.
I cannot seem to find this guy in my bird book. Looks like a weaver with a red beak?????
A trio of giraffe slaking their thirst.
I always try and catch the trail of water as a giraffe lifts up their heads.
A trio of blue waxbills slaking their thirst.
Taken through the fence by the toilets where there was small puddle.
A group of three in one photo.
On my way back to camp I did a detour on the Thlware Loop hoping to see the elusive leopard but all I got was this cinnamon breasted bunting. My first ever.

Great giraffe pics
If the yellow colour of your first bird is only yellow light from the sun on the leaves, then it is a red-billed quelea if not ....
I also like the waxbills

Re: OUR OCTOBER 2016 WEEK
Busy at the waterhole.
I also thought Quelea for your first bird. Nice sighting of the bunting.

Awesome sightings, overall, Stemtrainfan,
with the lions and rhino and birdies - Great shot of the osprey
and would also say it is a red-billed quelea
