Road conditions to Malelane

Post by Dzombo »

Hi All,

So I travel to SA on Sunday night O/\
And we go to Kruger on Monday 14 November.
My usual route, N12 to Witbank, then N4 to Nelspruit and on to Melalane.

What are the current road conditions like?
Any road works along the route?
Stop and Go?

Thanks
Dzombo

:-) :-) :-) :-)

N4 all the way to Komatipoort 100%.

one "stop and go" at waterval boven +/- 20 mins

the other route via bambi/schoemanskloof clear except for all the ore trucks..

drive safely......

Leachy,

Should I rather go Schoemanskloof or Waterfal route??

Lisbeth,
I will be in Jhb with my family.

Richprins,
Thanks. I have found the N4 to be a good road.

We are travelling on a Monday morning.
Was planning on leaving Jhb 7ish am
I take it there may be a bit of traffic around Jhb, but once we are past Germiston, it should be a bit quieter. Being not a weekend and school term time?

dzombo, there are not a lot of "passing lanes" on the schoemanskloof road and many drivers get edgy behind the trucks,

as a result one finds an increase in idiocy in other road users who cannot bear to have any other vehicle in front of them

i took the waterval boven road on saturday - - - sat at the "stop and go" for a while chilling to my music

and then dealt with the trucks one by one

there are loads of trucks on that section, however, because the road is downhill all the way to ngodwana

the trucks can also travel a bit faster and there are a few more "passing lanes"

i also like to go home via kaapschehoop so i do have an ulterior motive for choosing that route.....

it depends on your state of mind..

leachy,

Not a clear choice :-?

Is there a big differernce in distances between the Schoemankloof or Waterfal routes?
Which is further?
(I have always done the Waterfal/Tunnel option.)

Just had a look on Google Maps
Seems identical distance
I always thought the Schoemanskloof route was longer :-?
Which was why I have never used it in the past.

Anyhow, I would rather be moving than sitting at lights, so I think I will take this route. \O
