Surely it is time to close Numbi gate permanently and let the protestors get on with it, without the tourists. Do tourists contribute anything to the "local" economy?

They are well aware of the tourists, which is part of the reason for their brutish "getting attention".

All the gates have the same at some stage, bar Croc Bridge.

From the SanParks FB Page
Monday 19 February 2024

There is a road closure on the R538 (Dayizenze) that will impact guests wanting to travel in and out of the park through Numbi Gate. It is said that the closure is as a result of community unrest.
Police have been on the scene to disperse the community since this morning. We advise guests to avoid that road until further notice.
Note: updates will be posted as received. We have no further information pertaining the unrest. The aim of this post is to warn guests not to use the R538 road until it is open and safe.
