Letaba River
The Letaba River (Afrikaans: Letabarivier), also known as Leţaba, Lehlaba or Ritavi, is a river located in eastern Limpopo Province, South Africa. It is one of the most important tributaries of the Olifants River.
Flowing through the central regions of Kruger the Olifants and Letaba Rivers have become well known for reasons other than the wildlife that is attracted to the life-giving waters. They are considered some of the most polluted in the country due their course through, industrial areas, villages and settlements. The harm the pollution has caused the wildlife of Kruger has not been fully established yet but there are signs of environmental degradation.

Re: The ABC of Kruger
Found another H:
Hlangwine Rare Antelope Camp
Just south of Pretoriuskop, this large enclosure was built to secure rare antelope such as reedbuck, roan, sable, tsessebe and Liechtenstein's Hartebeest in the 1980s. These were reservoirs in case disease broke out in the far North of the park, their strongholds.
Most were released as the project was abandoned this century, and the PK roan died out anyway. I was fortunate to do a walk in the camp around 2000, and only reedbuck remained.

Malelane
Camp, Gate and Section on the Crocodile River.
There are two possible interpretations of this word, with very
much the same background. The phrases “At the Mlala
palm” and “Out of sight” historically refer to the sub-section
of the Malelane regiment of Swazis who were stationed
along the Crocodile river “out of sight” of the main base “at
the Mlala palms”. - Vd Wateren

Re: The ABC of Kruger
Masorini
In the shock waves following the rise of the Zulu kingdom early in the 19thCentury, Masorini ended as a settlement.
This site is situated some 11km from the Phalaborwa Gate, on the road to Letaba. As the letters PI-NE appear on the trigonometric beacon, it was incorrectly believed to be another name for Masorini (Piene).
The ancestors of the Baphalaborwa stayed here. They made a living from the melting of iron. The smelters lived on the lower terrace at Masorini and the forgers in the higher terrace, because they had a higher standing in society.
Today Masorini is a restored village with stonewalls, grinding stones, potsherds and the remains of foundries, including a smelting furnace, which date back to the 19th century. There are also some implements dating back to the Stone Age.
This village offers an insight into the economy and technology employed by the hunter-gathers, and later Iron Age people. The northeastern Sotho tribe that inhabited this village were known as the ba-Phalaborwa.
From the Masorini hilltop, there is a splendid view of Shikumbu Hill where the Chieftain lived. In the shock waves following the rise of the Zulu kingdom early in the 19thCentury, Masorini ended as a settlement.

Mopani Camp
Mopani is a rest camp in Kruger National Park, South Africa. It lies along the northern shore of the Pioneer Dam on the Tsendze River.
Named after the mopane veld that surrounds the camp, Mopani Rest Camp nestles amongst the Mopani tree covered koppies. A signature feature is the huge gnarled old baobab tree in the heart of the camp. The vegetation inside the camp is left as found in the wild, adding to the unique atmosphere of the camp.

Re: The ABC of Kruger
Maroela Camp
Tucked away in the dense bushveld and overlooking the Timbavati riverbed lies Maroela Camp, a haven for wildlife hungry campers.
Maroela Camp is a satellite camp of Orpen
20 Campsites are equipped with power points
The Timbavati riverbed is an excellent place to spot Leopard
Guided bush walks are available
Maroela, is the Afrikaans spelling of Marula, and is the common name of the Scierocarya Birrea Tree. This tree is a much-favoured indigenous tree, for both medicinal and ritual purposes. Its fruits are widely eaten, by people and animals alike, and are said to have strong aphrodisiac properties. This lodging in Kruger National Park has several caravan camping sites each of which offers a different variety of attractions and activities. The facilities while excellent, are generally of a similar type.
Maroela Camp has 20 campsites that are subject to the certain restraints. A single campsite can only accommodate a maximum 6 persons per caravan plus a side-tent and vehicle, one tent and vehicle, or one motorized caravan with a side tent. In the case of camping with a small tent, more than one tent will be permitted on a site, provided that the maximum number of 6 persons is not exceeded for accommodation in Kruger National Park. Vacation visitors may use generators only one hour after sunrise and run them until one hour before sunset.
Communal kitchen and ablution facilities are available at all the camps, but cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery are not provided at the accommodation in Kruger National Park. Although ground sheets are permitted, specific arrangements must be made at the reception office with camps which have lawns. There are no restaurant / shop facilities in Maroela Camp.
