Re: Mkuze Game Reserve

Guys good news to report back is that the fire was quickly contained on that evening. We actually stayed there from Tues to Fri last week (after having stayed in Imfolozi for the previous 3 nights) and had some incredible sightings. The male elephant (Julius) mock charged us whilst walking towards ...

Re: New Developments (camps, hides, picnic sites etc) as per Strategic Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24

Yeah I downloaded the entire document and the plan itself is very comprehensive. Detailed lists of all developments and maintenance scheduled over the next 5 years, really down to the finest detail! I am very skeptical though that they will accomplish more than 20% in the next 5 years. But even that ...

Re: New Developments (camps, hides, picnic sites etc) as per Strategic Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24

Are all of these approved, or are they simply proposals at this point? I really doubt they would manage to accomplish more than 20% of the items on that list in the next four years! Having said that, I am excited if the new tents / fly camps etc. are going to bring "budget" accommodation to areas of ...

Re: Pilanesberg - Accommodation

Has anyone stayed in the Kingdom Resort and, if so, what was your experience? I have also noticed quite a few places on AirBnB in Mogwase which are less than half the price of the cost of staying in Manyane or Bakgatla. Has anyone stayed in any of these before, or have any more info on the area? Any ...

Re: Mkuze Game Reserve

I also have mates who regularly see leopards there. This one was an adolescent just off the tar road between Mission Rocks and Catalina Bay. My wife got a very blurry picture in the fading light (whilst feeding the baby) before it moved off.

Will post it once she uploads it :-)

Re: Mkuze Game Reserve

We were actually there last month and must give credit where credit is due. One can see they are really making an effort... The communal ablutions for the rest huts had been redone and are now some of the best communal facilities available at any camp I have been to. Additionally the pool was ...

Re: Babies in Kruger

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately for us, we live in Durban so Pilanesburg is quite a drive for us. There is also Umfolozi and Mkhuze, which are both in lower risk areas than Kruger which are options for us. My opinion with doctors is that they will always offer you the "safest" advice in ...

Babies in Kruger

Hi everyone Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed somewhere else on the forum, but I searched and couldn't find anything,. so I thought I'd create it... We have a 2 month baby and I'd like to know what everyone's experience is taking babies to Kruger (and other parks for that matter ...

Re: Mkuze Game Reserve

I have had the privilege to have stayed at Mantuma 3 times in the last year. The communal rest huts offer the best value-for-money accommodation of any park in the country I believe and the fact that there are no fences makes for a wonderful (if a tad hair-raising when going to the bathroom ...
