Re: Head of Kruger rangers all for shifting of eastern border

The fences are/were largely decrepit in the South anyway, Ginzy. The expansion to the East is a de-facto thing, with those areas theoretically now forming a buffer zone. Security incursions into Mozambique from SA side are still officially forbidden. That would have to be a political decision which ...

Re: Head of Kruger rangers all for shifting of eastern border

Limpopo National Park

Limpopo National Park was proclaimed in the early 2000s following it be zoned as a hunting concession (Coutada 16). After the Mozambique civil war, its wildlife numbers were decimated. The park is part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, and is approximately 1 million ha in extent - half the ...

Re: Elephant Numbers in Kruger

Hi RP, Thanks for linking to Dr Joubert! Will love to hear his full input once he is back... It would be particularly interesting for the experts to peer review the paper and the rationale...in terms of elephant management on the whole continent it seems crucial. As for the politics in play..who ...

Re: Elephant Numbers in Kruger

Hi Stefan9,

Thanks for the welcome 0/*

It would be really interesting to see what some of the experts have to say if they were to peer review...surely a paper like this should be making waves over at park management...

Re: Linking Pilanesberg to Madikwe

The last I heard about it was in 2014. With the situation in which Pilanesberg is finding itself at the moment (the province taking over), there are most likely more important things to resolve. https://www.africawild-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=8414 It was an excellent idea, but you need the ...
