The D500 shutter has a warranty for 200,000 activations.
I've had mine for 18 months, I use it almost every weekend and have got to 50,000.
it's a superb wildlife camera and is especially good for birds in flight when mated to the Nikkor 200-500mm lens.

Re: Needs Attention: Kruger Park
YUK! I'm so glad I haven't paid a huge fee to stay in these dumps when I go to KNP next month. I get to sleep in my own bed in my own sleeping bag every night. Rats, Bats and mould?????? These are places that should be shut down for health and safety reasons. I'd be wearing a Hazmat suit if I had to...

Re: Nikon d5300 or equivalent
I don't own a filter for my Nikkor 200-500mm lens but I always use the lens hood. This won't protect the lens from sand blasting but it will protect it from accidental impact. If the wind gets up enough to sand blast a lens, put it back in its bag! I'm more worried about the lens ingesting dust when...

Re: Nikon d5300 or equivalent
The 200-500mm should work well with the D5300 but if you are thinking about upgrading your camera body, going to a full frame would be a improvement in image quality but you will lose the extra reach of a crop-frame sensor. If you are shooting birds, the extra 50% magnification for a given lens is a...

Re: What You Need to Know About Memory Cards
Something important to know is that cameras have their own max write speed. So you can pay a fortune for a speedy card and it will perform as well as a standard priced card... simply because your camera isn't able to write photos as fast as the speedy card is able to receive the data. As I said abo...

Re: What You Need to Know About Memory Cards
There is a serious misconception concerning SD memory cards which I found out after wasting a few hundred bucks on them! The number which is prominently displayed on the card such as 95Mb/s is the card's READ SPEED. The bigger the number, the faster the data on the card can be downloaded - IT HAS NO...

Re: Nikon d5300 or equivalent
From what I've heard, the Nikkor 200-500mm. Sigma 150-600 Sport and the Tamron 150-600mm G2 all have similar performance.
Try Google to see if there have been any comparison tests between them.

Re: Nikon d5300 or equivalent
Nikon batteries are Lithium-Ion, they don't have a memory and can be charged at any time. I charge mine after each photo session so I don't have to change batteries in the middle of a shoot.
