Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
Another interesting thread is playing out on Wegry's webpage under the heading "Verloor Sanparke nou kop?" (Is Sanparks losing its mind?) For those who read Afrikaans it's another interesting debate... see it at http://www.wegry.co.za/forum/showthread ... NParke-kop

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
I believe that something about the Riverbed cycle challenge appeared in Die Burger this morning (31 Oct) on p 13. Has anyone seen it and can post it here for the rest of us to read? Failing that, can you tell me who the journalist was so I can follow up with her/him? Thanks

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
I'm looking through a copy of the final Draft Basic Assessment report from Delron Consulting for the building developments at Nossob, Gharagab and Craig Lockhart (which I received because I registered as an Interested & Affected Party). Although it does not deal with the cycle event itself, its ...

I agree with you, Peter. I'm just trying to be reasonable in a worst-case scenario...Peter wrote:Annie Road/Riverbed is STILL NOT RIGHT PERIOD...they must have it on table MT or something but NOT in Kalagadi

Re: EIA for the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
I know that consultancy Delron is investigating the environmental impact of the developments at Nossob, Gharagab and Craig Lockhart (because I registered as an interested and affected party and I've seen the Draft Report) but has anyone seen any evidence of an EIA for the developments at Jan se Draa...

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
I suppose we can be grateful it's 50 cyclists over 2 days (for now) and not 100 quad-bikes over 3-4 days (for now)! But seriously, I still can't see why they can’t have the cycling along the road instead of on the virgin riverbed. If SANParks was prepared to move the event from March to September wh...

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
One thing that amazes me about this thread is that it has got a lot more reaction than one about proposed building developments in KTP both here https://www.africawild-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=456 and elsewhere. Those developments are even more worrying and potentially more permanently dam...

Re: Riverbed cycle challenge in Kgalagadi
Love the funeral march, Lisbeth! Funny lady. As I commented on http://ow.ly/erOZI where you can also see many other impassioned comments on this issue: Am I being dense, but is the argument that this will be a 'cycle trail' and not a 'race' really relevant? Does it really address the issues? I would...
