Re: 9333 miles

Thanks for continued interest. ^Q^ Cairns has two great bird watching sites. There is a nice long walk along the Esplanade looking out onto the foreshore mudflats and then just north of the town centre is the botanical gardens. The botanical gardens are an easy place to get lost for a few hours. I d...

Re: There are no Kangaroos Down Under!?

Some lovely birds Mel. I am particularly pleased, and a little jealous, you saw a Comb-crested Jacana. This bird was on my hit list and I missed. Kakadu looks amazing - a must visit place for my next trip to Australia. Thanks very much for sharing birds and experiences. O/\ O/\ O/\

Re: 9333 miles

Mel you may indeed want to go to Cairns and surrounding area. I'll describe our trip as best I can and I think you'll love it. ** Our trip finished with the most magical moment just a hop, skip and small jump from Cairns. It will stay with us all for a very, very long time. More of that later. In th...

Re: 9333 miles

0/* It’s me back again. Phew, what a couple of weeks. My trip to Australia was at the end of a 10 month career break. I enjoyed myself enormously but on my return I started a challenging new job. I have very much been thrown in at the deep end and it has been tough time with long days and lots of tr...

Re: There are no Kangaroos Down Under!?

Mel 0/* I've only just found this TT. ^Q^ ^Q^ (Non-SA TT's do seem to be in different places in the Forum). I'm very pleased to catch up on your trip. We missed each by a couple of days in a few places. Also some of the Austalian birds that were completely new to me are familiar now and I'm pleased ...

Re: Barbets (ex. Tinkerbirds) - Bird of the Month September

0/* Some lovely photographs. ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ I decided on Barbets as they are such fun and colourful little birds. Living where I do all colour is appreciated. Summer is now over and we enter the mainly grey season that stretches all the way to next March. :-( I excluded Tinkerbirds okie as I have no re...

Re: 9333 miles

Thanks nan (Happy Birthday!). O0 Agreed Lisbeth – I get a real sense of being alive near big mammals. ^Q^ Indeed Dewi you’re not wrong. ;-) Many thanks Mel, I agree it’s a New Holland – always nice to have somebody checking my ID’s. O\/ Keep reading Amoli as dolphins reappear at the very end of this...
