Re: Rhino Census and Kruger Rhinos to be Relocated
This is all so sad. Lack of proper Governance, process, openness and transparency with no clear conservation objective - other than making some money.
It smells very bad from here and all the while Rhinos are at risk. Shame on you SANParks.

Re: CAPE SPARROW - Bird of the month AUGUST
0/* I’m late to this thread but as it is still August I trust a post about the European House Sparrows in my garden is still permissible. The roof of my house is in dire need of repair. I will not allow it to be repaired because of the large number of house sparrows that nest up there. It would hurt...

The Humpback Whale Megaptera novaeangliae is one of the more energetic of the large whales. There are a number of sub-populations around the world. One population spends the southern summer in Antarctic waters traveling to tropical seas off the east coast of Australia during the winter before return...

Re: 9333 miles
Thanks for ongoing interest. Your question RP lead to a little research. This is what I learnt. The rock formations along the coast are wind weathered Sydney Sandstone (Sydney Basin Hawkesbury Sandstone, historically known as Yellowblock). This rock was laid down in the Triassic period. The grains o...

Re: 9333 miles
I’m continuing my adventures around Sydney. This is first and foremost a family holiday but I always seem to be lagging behind on any outing or walk trying to identify or photograph this or that. The family understand and I do appreciate them telling me about some animal or bird they’ve seen ahead. ...

Re: 9333 miles
I’m pleased you are enjoying my adventure and continuing thanks for comments. It is all good motivation to me to sort through my photographs, share the best ones and add details and stories as we go along. Amoli I too see the similarity between the two Ibises they are sister species after all: Thres...

Re: 9333 miles
Many thanks Toko for identifying unknown butterflies – your expertise may be required again. ;-) Dewi I’m pleased you know a special part of a wonderful country. I’ve never lived there myself but through my father, his upbringing in Gwynedd and my transient childhood a house by the river just a few ...

Re: 9333 miles
0/* Thanks for replies. Briefly back in contact with the modern world. All I can say is amazing! O/\ This adventure has exceeded my expectations in every way including the bashing the technology has taken. No worries though as I think it is all recoverable. I'll be back home in a couple of days and ...

Re: 9333 miles
Welcome Aboard! 0/* Lovely to have company but I hope you are all well prepared. Large ocean, small boat, open deck and rough seas - you may need to wrap up warm and get your sea legs. First a brief transit 6802 miles from home - Singapore's Changi airport. 14 hours travel to get here and still a lo...

0/* I first came here from another place and and while I still have virtual friends over there I feel more comfortable here. AW seems a place more in tune with my approach to African wildlife, my views on conservation, eco-tourism and you just seem a friendly bunch of people. It's also a great place...
