Re: Tsendze Rustic Camp
You can use the inverter with the car engine off but it may drain your battery. I only use it with the engine on. When driving in Kruger I have the inverter continually connected and do a 'device shuffle' to keep cameras/laptop/phone always charged. I find this approach works well. I did have to buy...

Re: Tsendze Rustic Camp
Being without electricity, how does one charge your camera batteries -O- I use a car cigarette lighter inverter which can also charge from a car battery and has a usb charger included. An absolute essential for me to pack and bring from the UK. Example product: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-12v-...

Re: Rhino Poaching 2014
Since I joined Africa Wild from another place I've enjoyed myself. Except here - this is the most depressing thread and I feel powerless. I think you're right - ruthless pursuit of all perpetrators is the answer with particular attention to anybody abusing a position of trust. The shocking photograp...

Re: Flutts, The Brat and Mommo Looking for Caracal
Thanks for the TT Flutterby and Bush Brat. I'm so far away from the wild and a good TT fills a gap and soothes an ache!

Re: Rhino Poaching 2014
Thanks Flutterby. I'm around just one of the quieter members. I'm reading Ivory, Horn and Blood by Ronald Orenstein (ISBN 978-1-77085-227-3) at the moment. I find it a hard book to read but I think it does share a very good understanding. Recommended but in many ways a very sad critique of the human...

Re: Tuskers of Kruger Discussions & Identification
Welcome back Aat! You deserved a good trip after all the recent nonsense and I think the elephants thought that too and rewarded you. Looking forward to further updates.

Re: Rhino Poaching 2014
Indeed a massive failure. And I still don't think Dept. of Environmental Affairs, SANParks and related get it. To quote the 15/05/14 media release about the MOU between South Africa and Mozambique "Talks have also been held regarding the strengthening of enforcement mechanisms to ensure rhino p...

Re: Mongoose - Animal of the Month: March 2014
The dwarf Mongoose may be small but I think this little carnivore may be braver than I will ever be. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/adrian_williams2/DMongoose_zpse62eb219.jpg Photo taken while traveling along the track that runs along the southern bank of the Sweni river from Sweni Wildern...

Re: Tuskers of Kruger
As an inital contribution here is an elephant I saw in full musth on S100 in KNP last November. Moody, dribbling urine, streaming from his temporal glands - the full works. Maybe not a Tusker yet but give him a few years. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s564/adrian_williams2/EllieS100_zps13c1765...

Re: Tuskers of Kruger
Hello all, 0/* I'm another refugee from SANParks Forum. I trust I will find a warm welcome and a cup of tea here. A vacuum will always be filled and the lack of current information on Tuskers from SAN Parks has been admirably filled by your work Aat. It is a joy to be a contributor and supporter. We...
