Re: RIETVLEI NATURE RESERVE
Jan's favourite local place. We saw the BCSE a few weeks ago near the firat bird hide. Also look out for Northern Black Korhaan at the top of the loop past the Island bird hide. We also saw BSK feeding chicks on a nest in that area beginning of April, could be the same ones STF saw recently. Great g...

Re: Should AW Oppose the Skukuza Hotel?
Does anyone know the usage rate of the white elephant, sorry Conference Centre in Skukuza. One of the arguments for the hotel was that there is not enough accomodation in Skukuza to meet the demand.
I did ask ther question in the SP site, but was fobbed off.

Re: Needs Attention: Kruger Park
We are staying in the BD2V perimeter huts, and it is mostly ok, but at R950 going up to R1090 next Nov. Who knows what the seasonal charge will mean. We will have to think long and hard about paying that much unless the standard of accomodation is improved on a par to many hotels which charge that f...

Re: N'wanetsi Picnic Site
Its a bit like Timbavati with a roof.
The climb to the lookout is worthwhile, listen out for the white bellied sunbirds on the way.

Re: Malelane Rest Camp
We stayed in the BG3 on Friday (14th), the unit is well maintained and has lots of space. It is a pleasant camp, but our visit was spoild by the noise comming from over the river to the south. Both local population and traffic noise. In the end, as we could not hear any night sounds we went inside. ...

Re: Krugersdorp Game Reserve
This used to be one of our favourite local reserves to visit. Are there no longer lions in the big lion enclosure? We were last there in Spetember and the lions were fed on Sunday morning, similar to the feeding at Rhino and Lion Park. These lions were certainly not caged. Also sad to hear that the ...

I have a 550D with a 70 - 300 lense. Is it worthwhile getting a 2x extender (converter)?
