Kirstenbosch - a Closer Look.

Post by Michele Nel »

Finally Spring has arrived in Cape Town...which means more trips to Kirstenbosch. \O Kirstenbosch is really a photographer’s delight – there is always something to photograph no matter the season. The new attraction is the Boomslang Walkway. I have yet to photograph it …maybe I will leave that for Nan to photograph. O**

Herewith some of my recent Spring photos…

Garden Acreae butterfly

Image
Pretty Pink flower ( when I call something a pretty something it is because I do not know it’s proper name… ) =O:

Image
Pretty Spider (Flower Crabspider Thomisus stenningi)

Image
A Bug in an Arum Lily (Beaded Weevil Protostrophus)

And of course the birds rarely escape my attention.

Neddicky

This is the first time I have seen a Neddicky at Kirstenbosch – not a very good photo though as it was taken long after the sun had gone down behind the mountain

The pretty spider is a Flower Crabspider Thomisus stenningi (new one for our Spider book O\/ )

This little spider is able to change colour and blend in to the flower for camouflage

The adorable bug in the lily is a Weevil (family Curculionidae), I think a Beaded Weevil Protostrophus sp.

Love them :-)
