Heavy Vehicles using Kruger as Shortcut

Post by Flutterby »

This was posted on the SANParks Kruger FB page yesterday:
Elmari Nel: What are these trucks doing in the KNP? Saw 7 of them on the H4-2 on Sunday, 2nd of March 2014 just before 12:00. A KNP employee at Lower Sabie said that they are entering the park at Kruger Gate and they use Crocodile Bridge to exit the park? Building supplies for the park? I don't think so!

Will be interesting to see SANParks' reply.

Lesego Nko: Permission was duly granted for the trucks to pass through as a result of unrests in the Bushbuckridge area. The trucks provide essential service to various areas adjacent to the park including the park itself.
SANParks controls access into all its national parks and decisions such as this are not common and special concession is made to allow such movements as guided by policy. In this case, open communications between the entry and exit points was kept at all times.
