Re: Addo Outings
Bring us back some photos of the kittens, please
Time might be ripe for Addo during the Easter holidays next year. Got a lousy booking for KTP at the mo' and still discussing what to do.

Maybe this will give you some ammunition Mel...Mel wrote:Time might be ripe for Addo during the Easter holidays next year. Got a lousy booking for KTP at the mo' and still discussing what to do.
I hadn't been to the park for ages what with some very busy work and very busy weekends, but yesterday I popped in for a day trip with the kids. It has been pouring with rain here in PE for much of the last week so I wasn't expecting too many sightings, but you often get some 'different' sightings like caracal on overcast days. However we were totally unprepared for what we were about to see.
First up along Ngulube loop our car startled an animal in the distance. It was a long way off... at first glance it looked like a bushbuck ram but on closer inspection it was much more exciting... a brown hyena!!!
Chatting to some of the park staff they have seen one before on a camera trap, but I think this might be one of the first times one has been seen relatively clearly in the daytime
We were thrilled with the sighting... no-one else around to enjoy it unfortunately, but at least we had photos to prove we weren't making it up
Later in the day whilst driving up from Wayne's Valley, an animal popped and stood at the side of the road. The stripes were unmistakable - an aardwolf!!!
The moment I shouted to the kids what it was it dashed off for cover... I only managed a couple of blurry pics through the windscreen, but you can see those beautiful stripes as it jumped into the bushes
Individually either of those sightings would have been phenomenal, but to have them both on the same day was astounding... no where did I put that lotto ticket?

Re: Addo Outings
Hahaha, you are making this up. I'm sure they are cardboard cut photoshopped into some scenery
This is absolutely a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! To be honest, I never knew brownie and aardwolf even occurred in Addo.
What time did you get to see them two? I gather the aardwolf must have been quite some time after its good night call.
Truly stunning, PJL!

Now where is that smiley with the mouth open in such a bad mannered way
There is no logical explanation for those two sightings. You must have been be touched by the stick of a fairy Simply incredible
