Staff Transport Incident in Kruger National Park

On Friday afternoon, there was an incident in Kruger National Park in which an impala was killed after being in collision with a bus carrying Singita staff to work. The incident caused distress to a number of people for which we apologise profusely. SAN Parks is dealing with the matter legally and has confirmed that the driver will be charged with dangerous and inconsiderate driving towards people and animals. He will be liable for a significant fine. The bus company involved is under contract to provide transportation for Singita staff to our camps in the park. We are requesting that the driver involved is removed from operating within the Kruger National Park due to his misconduct, and lack of sensitivity in determining the condition of the impala after the incident. We have also informed the operating company that they are on a final warning and that any future reports of speeding or reckless driving will result in the termination of the contract. Singita is committed to operating in the Kruger National Park with minimal impact. We take this type of event very seriously and will not tolerate such behaviour from our own drivers or those of our third party suppliers. Singita will work with SANParks to ensure that offenders receive the harshest penalty.

Good! Now how about the SANParks drivers who chased the elephant and rhino around recently? Can the public charge them "with dangerous and inconsiderate driving towards people and animals"...whatever the hell that is?






He will be liable for a significant fine. From whom? SANParks? The courts? The traffic department? Has he been proven guilty?

Actually this is a good response from the company involved...well-written, if slightly panicky...

Wouldn't quite call it pro active. People had been posting on their Facebook page and twitter. But a good response that will appease the masses. I wonder if it would still have been posted if there was no public reaction but just a report from staff who were on bus if they would have even reported the driver.

Ja, but the last bit is proactive, and the report sends out a warning etc.

Compared to SP feedbacks it lays the matter to rest rather better!
