The Most famous Leopard at Berg en dal ..Lived mostly in camp for many years when the camp was built in early 1980's and was often seen on the perimeter walk tail danging down as you approached ..If that happened you just quietly turned around and went back the way you came ...Living with leopards is Common in Africa ..ask the dog owners at Hartebeestpoort dam ..No people have ever been injured/killed there yet those idiots who shouldnt own dogs and insist on leaving them outside at night often woke up the next day with Fido missing ..They thought the dogs were either stolen for dog fights or ran away ..not until the advent of camera traps which showed it was 100% leopard...Regarding the original B N Dal Leopard ..I had a story concerning My then 5 yr old son and me and the leopard in the 2nd edition of Getaway Magazine..Brilliant interaction with the cat at 3am ..I have seen 2 in Tamboti and L sabie 1 walked right through main gate at 3pm and Mopani has had a couple of Temp residents too. The Shingwedzi Leopard often drinks out the pool late at night ..I went for a midnight swim one hot summers night when the camp was sleeping and surprised her as I closed the gate ..She slunk off ..Fences DONT keep leopards out and the live well with humans
