Just returned from 6 days in Kruger, and we were very impressed with the renovations done on the old dormitory bungalows.
The bungalows have been retiled inside and there are new fitted cupboards. Even though these are not meant to have utensils, they had everything (cutlery, glasses, plates, cups etc.) except for a kettle.
Outside, a roof has been added over the walkway giving a bit of extra shelter and they have finally put lights outside each bungalow. A walkway to and around the braais has been paved. The units to the left (if you are looking up towards the old restaurant) have not been done yet.
The new kitchen area in the middle of the U-shape is great, with 2 sinks and 4 hotplates, and hot water always available.
I was glad to see that the old bungalows to the right that had been converted into 2 4-sleeper bungalows have been converted back into individual bungalows. We stayed in the 4-sleepers a couple of years ago and really didn't like them as a reed fence had been erected around them, cutting you off from the camp. These are the new 'old' bungalows.
The ablution block is in pretty poor shape, although the baths had been re-enamelled, but a new ablution block is being built in the parking area behind the bungalows and should be finished soon.

I'm sure you'll like them! I would suggest not staying in no.'s 49 to 54 as they have not been renovated yet, and I'm not sure when that will happen. The new ones on the right look really nice - I think those are 61 - 66.

Ja, but one needs to be ok with sharing space with many others. I have stayed there many, many times but I only get to stay there in school holidays and 9 times out of 10 there’s a family of hooligans with wild kids somewhere in the mix, so the peace and silence which many seek in Kruger takes a dive however at the price it’s worth not having to put a tent up.
