That was a scary day for both of us RP and we had also never felt heat like that before. I was at Lower Sabie at that time and it was reading 48 degrees at reception. It’s the first time I have ever seen Lower Sabie deck empty The berg wind felt like an oven door opening while standing in front of it
The next morning dawned early with me still feeling sulky and poorish and in a bad mood, but basically better!
The youngsters were having a great time...and went off up to Letaba and Heaven knows where for the day...
They saw BC's wild dog from the previous night at the fence on the way out!
Dwarf and I were only too happy to have a restful day in camp!
We toddled off to the hide after packing feeble refreshments...
The weather had turned cloudy and cool...this often happens after a heatwave! Mercy!
Some more tourists who had not made it through the heat...
Our view for the next 12 hours!
And the animals rolled in!
The elephant were inveterate bullies as always! But they would get their comeuppance later!
The old buffs weren't particularly impressed...
Mostly the younger teenage ellies were intimidating the others...
But as said, not that brave!
There was a beautiful foreign lady that shared the hide with us...she did not believe in upper underwear, an approach I fully support, to excuse the pun!
I remember this morning very fondly...it was truly beautiful.
