The worst Business trip ever .. not !

Post by RogerFraser »

Early November 2020 .

Client in Hazeyview ....Please can you arrange to come to site for meetings and training next week .

Check on Sanparks site ooh some availability at Pretoriuskop and some units at Orpen just added onto the system   sure will be there next week O**

Plan is drive up Monday to Pretoriuskop go to site an Mkhulu Tuesday & Wednesday leaving early from camp each day ,Then move to Orpen for two nights and back home ....

The long drive was uneventful .Entering at Malelane and driving to camp we came across an itchy Ellie

Image

This roller brightened our day
Image

It was the first time we stayed in these units and enjoyed our first braai in the circle .
Image

We got an early night as we had a planned early 4.30 start ...

Early the next morning we were second at the Gate the first car we saw off into the distance as we drove out scanning with torches as it was still dark. We drove slowly towards Shithave Dam and the plan was to have a stop over and see if anything came down to the dam ...

As we drove down the road to the dam the car that had been ahead of us was driving out of the road .Ok guess there isn't much to see yet .We drove on down to the dam and stopped and before switching off the headlights suddenly the SO says whats that moving there in the very dark morning .Its a ...Lion .A big male lion was making his way to the dam to drink . And as we scanned behind him there was the rest of the pride laying spread out .

The pics are a little pixilated due to low light .

Image

They were all relaxed and awake .One or another shuffled around and flopped in a better position

Image

The Male rejoined the rest and they remained alert watching us it seemed .

Image

After about 15 mins another vehicle joined us and we had to leave to drive to get to Phabeni and to the site .

Passing the road back to camp we saw the morning shift heading out to the Day visitors site .

Image

Along the S3 some Zebra were enjoying an early morning sand bath roll on the water runoff .

Image

We carried on off to the site leaving by Phabeni gate .
