That is another series of fantastic photos! I like all those with the special lighting in them.
The impies for example look beautiful. But my favourite would be the lurking mongoose. So sweet

Re: And then the rain set in or at dusk the bush comes alive
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Got a chuckle out of the Carmine with the annoying bee - like offering chocolate to someone who is already stuffed full - but is still thinking about taking a bite.
The Heron on the Hippo is always a winner - love birds on moveable islands
My FAVORITE - Plum Starling would LOVE to see one

We could not complain about all the different birdies we discovered

The lurking mongoose was such a cutie - This year we had either heavy rain or sunshine - At least a bit different to our nearly always cloudy trips the years before

It took also years for us before we saw our very first plum starling - We could have watched that bee eater eying the bees for ages - It was so funnyExFmem wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 11:45 pm Got a chuckle out of the Carmine with the annoying bee - like offering chocolate to someone who is already stuffed full - but is still thinking about taking a bite.

Re: And then the rain set in or at dusk the bush comes alive
We finally reached Biyamiti weir and the S139 was history and unfortunately the weir itself was quiet at that early morning as well but we had luck in spotting in the distance a rhino mom with her calf during our drive.
an then we spotted them – Can you see them?
A klipspringer family, mom, dad and her little daughter on a huge rock
resting and enjoying the quiet and sunny morning.
It was such a wonderful sighting and I am always thrilled by their ability to climb such invincible rocks such easily – Dad was still a bit sleepy
whilst their daughter was a cutie
and finally all of them together and they did not feel disturbed in any way as we took a lot of pictures.
We came across a couple of grey louries

Re: And then the rain set in or at dusk the bush comes alive
which kept us entertained and needless to say that Timon brought the camera to glow again.
We also stopped for some blue waxbills
and for little bee eaters.
Shortly before we reached Renosterkoppies a couple in a car told us about a lioness they saw disappearing between the koppies and although we stared into that direction we did not see anything so we continued but when we stopped at the waterhole itself we noticed a lioness who just have drank
and started now to walk towards us
into the direction of her pride as we now noticed on the other side a couple of lions
under thick bushes as it was already extreme hot at that early hour.
to be continued……
