Kielie Krankie sunset

We returned to Mata Mata, packed up our tent and campsite and drove down to Kieliekrankie

We were met at Kieliekrankie by Willem, whom we have had the pleasure of meeting a good couple of time s before. He allocated us our favourite unit, number 2 and we happily moved in.

Having spent the last two weeks or so camping, we decided to make the most of a bit of luxury, and spend the afternoon in, showering, getting ourselves sorted and just relaxing. Not to mention taking in the view.

As daylight faded, I decided that a few pictures of Kielikrankie and its surrounds

Here is a view out the back of the chalets:

His old chalet next to no 1 is being converted into another tourist unit

With a full moon ending off the show.

Kieliekrankie has to be one of the most spectacular places on earth

Kieilie certainly offers stunning views and sunsets as your photos show.
But it can get quite nasty if it's windy O** Looks warm that night though, you in Shorts and such \O

It started off ok, but like you said, once the wind got up, it was a different story :O^

21 May: An early morning surprise

The first 45 minutes of our morning drive along the Auob riverbed was pretty uneventful, and I started getting that feeling that we were in for another quiet Kgalagadi day.

We were driving just ahead of a German couple, who had also spent the night at Kieliekrankie, and were on their last drive before leaving the park, when suddenly Debbie remarked “there’s a leopard!!”

That woke me up as I came to a quick stop. Sure enough, a big male leopard was moving up a crevice up onto the ridge to our left.

Image

We quickly pointed him out to the other couple, who were really thankful that Debbie had her spotting eyes on.

Image

I turned the vehicle around and we followed him as he wandered along the ridge looking for anything which may jump out for breakfast

Image

Image

Frustratingly, he carried on along the top of the ridge, and never came down back towards the road

After watching him for a good 20 minutes, he eventually disappeared from view over the top of the dunes

All we could say was Wow Wow, Wow, as we carried on with big grins on our faces.

We later learned that we had seen Urinanib

How very much totally awesome!!! O\/ O\/ O\/ A big bloke indeed!

Where exactly did you find him? From what I know I'd wager the guess it was south of Kielie, but with those cats you'll never know lol
